Sandokán es el protagonista de las novelas de Emilio Salgari, inspiradas en el aventurero español Carlos Cuarteroni, y otros piratas que azotaron el sureste asiático en los siglos XVIII y XIX, principalmente en Borneo, Malasia y la India.
Sandokán era rey de Borneo y jura vengarse de los británicos, que lo despojaron de su trono y asesinaron a su familia; y de sus aliados Españoles, Holandeses y Portugueses.
Por su fiereza los llaman Los Tigres de Monprasem y a Sandocán “el tigre de la Malasia”

Sandokan is the protagonist of the novels by Emilio Salgari, inspired in the Spanish adventurer Carlos Cuarteroni, and other who plagued Southeast Asia in the 18th and 19th centuries, mainly in Borneo, Malaysia and India.
Sandokan was king of Borneo and swears revenge on the British, who stripped him of his throne and murdered his family; and their Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese allies.
Because of their fierceness they are called Los Tigres de Monprasem and Sandocán “the tiger of Malaysia”
