Amilcar Barca, padre de Anibal, fundó em 227 a. C. en España, la segunda capital del imperio: Cartagonova (Cartagena).
El incipiente imperio Romano ya tenía colonias en el norte de España; y copiaron clavo a clavo los barcos Cartagineses, y ambicionaban el control total; el comercio marítimo seguía siendo dominado por Cartago.
Con solo 21 años Aníbal tenía amplia experiencia diplomática y militar. Roma atacó Cartagonova, y Aníbal levantó un gigantesco ejército; rodeó los pirineos y en 218 a. C. atravesó los Alpes en una epopeya sin paralelo.

Julio César, Ricardo Corazón de León de Inglaterra, Napoleón y Páton, utilizarons las estrategias de Anibal, mismas que aún en el siglo XXI se estudian en todas las academias militares del mundo.

The incipient Roman empire already had colonies in the north of Spain; and they copied the Carthaginian ships nail by nail, and coveted total control; maritime trade was still dominated by Carthage.
With only 21 years of age, Hannibal had extensive diplomatic and military experience. Rome attacked Carthagonova, and Hannibal raised a gigantic army; surrounded the Pyrenees and in 218 a. C. crossed the Alps in an epic without parallel.

Julius Caesar, Richard the Lionheart of England, Napoleon and Páton used Hannibal's strategies, the same ones that are still studied in all the military academies of the world in the 21st century.
